You can pay for your order using your American Express, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card.  We also accept PayPal.  Please be sure to provide your exact billing address, (the address your credit card provider or PayPal has on file for the card you use), when completing your order.  Incorrect information may cause a processing delay or cancellation of your order.

Expand Do you accept custom and special orders?

Expand Will you sell my personal information?

Fur Care
Expand How do I care for my fur?
  • Use broad-shouldered hangers when hanging fur garments in a closet, and allow space to prevent it from being crushed or creased.
  • Never store the fur in a plastic bag. Plastic prevents air from circulating and can dry out the leather. If you want to cover the fur between wearing, use a cloth protector. However, this is not suitable storage for summer storage.
  • Never store your furs in a cedar closet or chest.
  • Store your fur with a professional furrier in the spring each year. Have the furrier condition, clean and glaze it while it is in storage each year.
  • Have any small rips or tears repaired immediately.
  • Never leave your fur near heat. Leaving a fur near heat will cause both the fur and leather to become brittle.
  • Remember that these simple precautions will protect your beautiful fashion investment. Given reasonable care, your furs will last for many, many enjoyable years.
Expand Can I store my fur at home since I have air conditioning?
No. Homes with air conditioning generally have too much humidity which can dry out the pelts. Protect furs from damage due to warm weather by placing them in cold storage vaults where temperatures and humidity are kept constant.
Expand Can I store my coat with you?

Yes. We do offer on-site cold vault storage for your fur garments and leather/shearling coats. Just come into our store location and we will be happy to arrange for storage and/or cleaning and glazing of your garments.

Expand How often should my fur be cleaned?

Your fur needs to be cleaned and glazed at least once a year to prevent it from drying out. Professional fur cleaning removes dirt, keeps leather soft, and brings back the fur’s luster, thus prolonging the life of your fur.

We offer cleaning services at our store location. Although no appointment is necessary, you should expect to leave your coat with us for approximately 1-2 weeks depending on the type. Leather/shearling coats may take longer to be cleaned.

Expand Will rain ruin a fur?

A mild rain or snow will not ruin your fur. If furs are damp, promptly hang the garment up to dry in a cool and well-ventilated area away from direct heat – preferably not in a closet. After it is dry, give the garment a vigorous shake to fluff the fur; never comb or brush your fur. If your fur gets thoroughly soaked, bring it to a professional furrier for proper treatment.

Expand What can I do with a fur coat I have inherited?
The fur can be updated into a more modern style. There are many options that include adding fabrics such as leather, micro fiber, or knit. Or you can convert your old coat into a vest and use the remaining fur to make a scarf, or trim a sweater, a cape, gloves, earmuffs, or a cloth coat. Should you have any questions regarding remodeling, please contact us directly via phone or email and we will be more than happy to offer you suggestions.
Expand Can you remodel or resize my old coat?

Yes. Our in-house staff of Master Furriers has been making and remodeling fur garments for over 30 years and can take care of almost any problem, large or small. Come in for a free fitting to resize, restyle or to get suggestions on how to remodel your old coat. No appointment is necessary.

Expand How do I insure my fur?

Bring it to a professional furrier for a written appraisal. Give this appraisal to your insurance company so that the fur can be listed on a separate rider of your home owner’s insurance policy. Ask your insurance agent for advice and details.

Returns & Exchanges
Expand What is your return policy?

All merchandise must be unused, in perfect condition, and in its original packaging.  Items that do not meet these criteria will not be exchanged or refunded.  Returns and Exchanges on FULL-PRICED merchandise are accepted by mail or in-store with the original invoice within 14 business days of receipt of purchase, (less shipping and handling fees).  Merchandise must remain in its original sale condition.  Used or worn merchandise will not be accepted.  Returns made after the 14 day return period will be subject to a restocking fee.  If you are unsure if your item is eligible for return, please contact us directly at info@treschicfurs.com or call us at #(516) 791-6465 and we will be happy to answer your questions.

If you are exchanging an item, please note that the shipping charges to Tres Chic Furs as well as the return shipping charge are paid by the customer.  Shipping charge on returned item(s) is not refundable, unless the reason for the return is due to an error by our company (e.g. wrong item/color, damaged).  If you receive wrong or damaged merchandise, please contact us immediately at info@treschicfurs.com or call us at #(516) 791-6465.

Returns and Exchanges on SALE merchandise and on custom orders are not accepted.

Expand Can I return/exchange merchandise I purchased online at your store location?

Yes, as long as the return or exchange is made within 14 days and the item is in its original sale condition.  Simply bring the item and your receipt to our store location and we will be happy to give you a full refund (less shipping and handling fees).  Used or worn merchandise will not be accepted.  Please note that items returned after the 14 day return policy will be subject to a restocking fee.  Sale items and custom orders are final sale only and will not be accepted for return or exchange.

Expand What if my order is damaged when I receive it?

We take great pride and care in ensuring that our products are free from manufacturing defects and are packaged properly before they are shipped to you. However, we are aware that unforeseen problems may arise once your order leaves our warehouse.

Should you receive your order with visible damage to the outer packaging, you must sign the carrier’s delivery receipt indicating that the package has been damaged in transit.

You should be aware that outer carton damage does not necessarily indicate that the merchandise has been damaged. Once you have had a chance to inspect your order, if any of your merchandise is damaged please contact us immediately via email at info@treschicfurs.com so that we may assist you in returning the damaged merchandise.

Replacement merchandise will not be shipped out until we have received and inspected the damaged products.
Expand What if I receive the wrong item?

Should you receive an incorrect item, please contact us immediately. If we have mistakenly sent you the wrong item, we will arrange to pick up the incorrect item at our expense. As soon as we receive the item at our warehouse we will send you the correct item, also at our expense. However, if you have received an item that was incorrectly ordered by you, you may return the item within our 14 day return period, but you will be responsible for all costs associated with the return.

Claims for incorrect items must be made within 5 days of receipt of shipment.

About Fur
Expand How do I tell the quality of a fur?
The quality of a fur is determined by the quality of the design, the pelts and the workmanship. The design must cause a proper fit and reflect a certain look or lifestyle. The pelts must be well matched, light weight, supple and even in sheen. The workmanship must create even sewed seams and good matching.
Expand Does dyeing a fur affect its quality?
No. A fur that has been dyed will keep its softness and luster. Dyeing a fur is an option that many of today's designers use to achieve a look that can only be gotten by dying the pelts.
Expand Is sheared fur as warm as unsheared fur?
Yes. The warmth of the fur is determined by the underfur, which acts as an insulation. Whether or not the longer guard hairs are sheared off, the underfur remains intact and therefore provides the same warmth.
Expand What is the difference between female and male mink pelts?

Female mink pelts are generally smaller and lighter in weight than male mink pelts. Additionally, female pelts have a high luster and are very silky and soft while male mink pelts are denser. Each garment, whether male or female, has to be judged individually based on its own quality.

Expand What is a shearling?

Shearling is natural lamb skin with the fur worn on the inside and the leather side sueded and worn on the outside. Many of today's designers are designing sporty styles that fit well with today's casual lifestyle.
